Waikora Station is classed as a medium altitude hill country run ranging from 500 metres to 885 metres. It has a rolling contour to steep gullies. We mainly use horses or walk the steeper areas although there are 4 wheel drive tracks into most of the blocks.
The climate ranges from hot dry summers to cold frosty winters with several falls of snow being normal.
Waikora Station presently runs approx 5,500 Superfine Merino sheep consisting of ewes, wethers and hoggets. 2000 lambs are usually kept through a winter to sell after shearing. The property produces approximately 20 Tonnes of 14 to 17 micron wool annually, nearly all of which is sold at Auction in Melbourne, Australia.
We also run 100 Simmental cows usually selling the calves at Auction in the local sale yards.
